LS series Isolated Heart Perfusion Systems
Our heart perfusion systems make studying small animal hearts easy, reliable, and affordable. Whether you work with mice, rats, guinea pigs, or rabbits, we have solutions for every type of experiment — from simple cell studies to advanced whole-heart research.
Choose from our Classical or Compact Langendorff systems, Neely Working Heart setups, or Cardiomyocyte digestion tools. Our flexible, modular designs give you precise information on key heart functions, so you can get accurate results every time.
With our systems, you can explore heart physiology and test new drugs with confidence, gaining valuable insights into how the heart works
MDE Compact Langendorff System
MDE’s Compact Langendorff heart-perfusion system gives you full control over cardiac function in a compact, integrated platform. Its built-in circulation heating ensures stable temperatures, while the modular design delivers reliable, high-precision results. Ideal for metabolic, pharmacological, and physiological studies, it allows accurate and efficient monitoring of heart function. Made with borosilicate glass and high-quality silicone tubing, the system provides long-term reliability and straightforward maintenance.
MDE Working Heart System
The Working Heart isolated heart perfusion system uses the Neely method, which keeps the heart working under more natural, physiological conditions. Unlike a Langendorff setup, where the heart is mainly studied for contractility and coronary flow, the Working Heart system lets the heart pump against a controlled load, making it ideal for studying energy use, oxygen consumption, and responses to drugs or interventions.
MDE has been building Working Heart systems for over 20 years, providing reliable, high-quality tools for cardiovascular research. Made with borosilicate glass and laboratory-grade tubing, our systems are precise, versatile, and durable. Plus, researchers can run both Working Heart and Langendorff experiments on the same setup, giving you a modern system with maximum flexibility.
MDE Classical Langendorff System
Our first research system was a modernized Langendorff system, in production for over 40 years and periodically updated to meet current research needs. Designed for retrograde perfusion of small rodent hearts, it allows one or two different buffer perfusions and lets researchers easily measure biopotentials, pressure, temperature, or flow. The gravity-fed perfusion ensures reliable, steady flow with minimal setup complexity, making experiments reproducible and straightforward.
Built with borosilicate glassware, laboratory-grade silicone tubing, and a stainless-steel frame, the system is highly durable and long-lasting. Its design emphasizes simple perfusate management, precise regulation, and maximum versatility, so researchers can focus on their experiments with confidence. Even after decades, our Classical Langendorff remains a trusted platform for cardiovascular research worldwide.
Cardiomyocyte (Heart Cell) Isolation System
MDE’s Cardiomyocyte Isolation System is a minimalist, purpose-built platform for efficient enzymatic digestion and harvesting of cardiac cells. Designed specifically for isolating cardiomyocytes, it avoids the complexity and cost of modifying a full Langendorff system — saving time, reducing the risk of cross-contamination, and minimizing wasted resources.
Built with the same quality and reliability as our other heart systems, this platform ensures consistent, dependable cell isolation for years of research. Customized versions are also available — contact us for more information and a quotation.
