Isolated Tissue Bath Setups

Isolated Tissue Bath setups

An isolated tissue bath serves as a specialized chamber where isolated tissues are placed to administer drugs or electrical stimulation, allowing researchers to measure their function accurately. Typically, the tissue in the organ bath is oxygenated with carbogen and immersed in a solution such as Krebs-Henseleit, Tyrode, or lactated Ringer solution to maintain physiological conditions.

This setup finds extensive use in pharmacology and physiology research, particularly in studying the contraction of smooth muscle tissues. Smooth muscle contraction in various organs and tissues, including the ileum, colon, vas deferens, trachea, bladder, corpus cavernosum, and blood vessels such as aortic rings or strips, can be investigated using isolated tissue baths.

Our company has been manufacturing in vitro pharmacological systems since 1991, with numerous references from Central Eastern Europe, the U.S., the U.K., and India.

The MDE Technologies Isolated Tissue Bath setup offers several key advantages:

  • Easy-to-remove Teflon tissue holder: mount your sample outside the chamber, saving you time and effort during your experimental setup.
  • The reservoir and tissue bath are composed of borosilicate glass, for best durability. Robust  Teflon tissue holders mean easier tissue handling and better equipment reliability. Perfusate tubing is made from high-quality laboratory-grade silicone.
  • Available in 5 ml, 10ml, and 20ml size, the volume of the tissue bath can be precisely calibrated to the required volume by adjusting the immersion depth of the tissue holder. (Custom chamber sizes available.)
  • Our system provides highly accurate pre-tensioning of the sample due to the compact design of our force transducer, and the Teflon tissue holder’s very stiff construction.
  • 1, 2, 4, or 8 channel systems available, with individual reservoirs for each chamber. This ensures both maximum experiment flexibility and high throughput, as well as equipment redundancy in case of glass breakage.
  • The tubing system comprises laboratory-grade silicone tubing, which clients can easily replace at any time without the need for special connections.
  • The bubbling system uses ultrafine bubbling frits, which ensures better oxygenation than simple needle valves. Oxygen bubbling can be set at two points, for more precise control of oxygenation during experiments.
  • Our system features a rigid insulating baseplate, ensuring noise-free recordings and easy cleaning.
  • We offer various solutions for tissue and blood vessel mounting, ranging from diaphragm preparation to aortic vessels and 1 ml volume baths, providing flexibility to meet diverse experimental needs.
